Description Title: Manufacturing Engineer Primary Location: Cheadle, UK Reporting: Engineering Manager Travelling: 5% Description / Responsibilities of position: Take responsibility for day to day uptime of CHRA and VSR equipment for current and new processes. Provide an Engineering solution to resolve daily production process downtimes. Improve OEE equipment availability. Support new product introduction (NPI) during ‘off design tool’ (ODT) testing and ensure carried out through APQP, PEP and PPAP processes. Assist NPI ME with production set up sheets and support creation of operator standard operating sheets. Provide continued engineering support to resolve ‘run at rate’ production problems. Drives continual improvement using Company Standard Operating System incorporating Six Sigma methodology on all manufacturing methods and processes to ensure customer satisfaction. Works to internal Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures, continually seeking to improve the department’s method of work Maintains records, drawings (and other machine or facilities drawings), and documents to provide a record which is archived and accessible to the company, as per IATF16949, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 requirements. Identification of continual improvement opportunities through root cause analysis, our kaizen process and other problem solving techniques Facilitate the utilisation and edition of FMEA and Control plans Responsible for procurement of Final assembly equipment and tooling for new processes that comply with UK PUWE Regulations Maintenance of existing tooling and processes Process improvement to increase OEE through availability, performance and quality coefficients Perform VSR correlation activities with OE plants and engineering. Control of Capital for OPEX projects – initial proposal, specification, raising budget requests and budget control. Degree or equivalent in engineering essential PLC, Pneumatics and Electrical experience essential. Tooling and fixturing design capability desired. Knowledge of turbocharger manufacturing processes desired. Computer skills using Microsoft packages essential. Working knowledge of modern logistics, warehousing and assembly machining processes Previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred Greenbelt certification required, Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert desirable IOSH Managing safety qualification or equivalent (e.g. ‘Pilz’ Managing safety with a one day Machinery safety addition qualification) preferred Language Proficiency: English speaking essential
