Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a dynamic, ambitious and experienced professional to lead the Regulatory Services portfolio in our thriving city. This role sits at the heart of our strategic ambitions, leading a diverse portfolio of services that play a critical role in safeguarding public health, protecting communities, and supporting economic growth including: -
* Environmental Health ensuring food safety, air quality, and public health protection.
* Licensing & Trading Standards, regulating businesses while fostering a thriving local economy.
* Private Sector Housing, improving housing conditions and enforcing landlord standards.
As Head of Regulatory Services, you will provide strategic leadership to highly skilled teams, ensuring that our regulatory functions are efficient, innovative, and aligned with the Council’s ambitions for a cleaner, safer, and fairer Southend. This includes significant interaction with elected Members, residents and local businesses to protect the public, stimulate economic growth and encourage service excellence.
This role requires a leader who can navigate complexity, think strategically and bring fresh ideas to the table while ensuring that services remain legally compliant and financially sustainable. As a change oriented Head of Service, you will engage and inspire your team leaders to drive standards and performance in line with the Council’s ambitious strategic plans. You will shape our offer to the public through this portfolio, ensuring our service is responsive and customer focussed.
