We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team as we start to introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provide a comprehensive haematology service in the four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Myeloma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board and will continue to develop as part of the wider transformation process. Support for the post includes Associate Specialists, specialty doctors, clinical fellow as well as foundation trainees. The team also includes haematology CNS team and Specialist pharmacists. Our vision is to provide a future proof service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for as close to their home as possible. We are looking for someone to contribute to our current service redesign and will be aiming to;- Promote the delivery of local treatments and care for our patients. Develop improvement and increased performance in the service. Bring about a single health board wide haematology service delivered across the four hospital sites. Drive quality and governance throughout to improve patient experience and outcomes. Introduce more subspecialisation within Haematology. Aid in the delivery of a digital network for morphology. Support the All Wales haematology services such as the All Wales Myeloma MDT etc. The Welsh haematology community have regular meetings together and undertake collaborative projects. Main duties of the job Clinical :- The appointee should be able to demonstrate experience and specific interest inthe management of patients with haematological disorders, including management ofMyeloma and General Haematology. The successful candidate will develop this subspecialtyacross the health board and working alongside the generalist consultants to provide care ofpatients across the region. Inpatients :- The appointee will participate in the attending and on-call rota for theCarmarthen site but supported by and working with clinical teams trust-wide. At the threeperipheral sites, the contribution is generally consultative to the local medical and advisingon outliers and inpatients suspected of haematological disorders. Outpatients :- The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, withinMyeloma and General Haematology. Consideration for other subspecialist workload could beconsidered, depending on applicant's experience to date. The delivery of outpatient activitywill include opportunities to support clinical trial recruitment roles within the department. There is a weekly health board wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from allWales MDTs and from the tertiary sites. For the ward attending commitments, the appointee will be expected to provide reciprocalcover for periods of leave. The post holder is required to hold specialist accreditation in Haematology and maintaintheir GMC registration and revalidation as per GMC's Good Medical Practice.
