Personal Care Assistant for a person P/T @ £11.44/hr in LS10 starting with 10 hrs P/W
Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: d27aef04
I am a 50-year-old woman who has cerebral palsy and traits of Autism. I have lived independently since I was 18 years old with PA support for the past 16 years. I can walk aided, but my mobility has declined significantly over the years. I may need assistance taking walks in my wheelchair when the weather permits, so I require someone relatively fit and able.
I am looking for a PA who is understanding and patient, as I may repeat myself often. I can shower independently but occasionally need help with additional tasks and support in dressing, particularly with my lower half. I enjoy writing thank you cards and sending birthday cards, and I need a PA who can help safeguard me against potential exploitation due to my vulnerability.
I am part of a women's choir that meets on Friday mornings and require my PA to assist me with exercises once a week and help with pain relief. I enjoy shopping at the local supermarket on my mobility scooter, and may occasionally ask my PA to pick up essentials for me when the weather is bad. I also like visiting my local shopping centre and would need my PA to accompany me.
The values I seek in a PA include honesty, reliability, punctuality, non-judgmental attitude, the ability to build trust-based relationships, flexibility, adaptability, a positive outlook, a willingness to spend time outdoors, an understanding of equality and diversity, and a good sense of humour.
Specific requirements include someone with an understanding of Cerebral Palsy and/or brain damage. Due to the nature of this role, including medical/personal care, I will be considering female applicants only, preferably aged 40+ (though this is not essential). My home is a non-smoking environment.
