About the role
We’re seeking a highly motivated, creative and data-drivenmarketing and communicationsprofessional to lead our marketing strategy and communications efforts. In this crucial role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan to drive membership growth, raise brand awareness, and communicate the value of editing and proofreading to a wide audience. You’ll work closely with the CEO, relevant team members and the Council to increase engagement and visibility, and drive member acquisition and retention.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Develop and implement the marketing strategy and annual plans, focusing on increasing membership, promoting the value of the editorial profession, and raising awareness of the CIEP's members and services.
* Proactively harness data and insights to drive marketing activities and evaluate campaigns.
* Conduct research to ensure insights inform strategy and guide plans.
* Continually review and develop the CIEP’s member value proposition and manage our portfolio of member benefits to ensure that our offer is attractive, competitive and compelling for target audiences.
* Develop and manage the delivery of marketing campaigns to recruit and retain individual and corporate members.
* Lead on the marketing and promotion of CIEP products and collaborate with relevant members of the team to provide marketing support that helps with the achievement of overall strategic objectives and plans.
* Oversee the delivery of social media activity to promote CIEP membership, demonstrate the value of editing and proofreading, and the role our members play in that.
* Develop success measures and KPIs for sales, retention, marketing, and social media engagement.
* Develop member journeys that reflect the value and career stages of members. Constantly improve how these are delivered and communicated to encourage the use of CIEP products and services, and support retention.
* Ensure that marketing content on the website is easily found and accessible.
* Oversee the scheduling of marketing and communication activity, including emails and social media.
* Produce engaging and accurate copy, and oversee the CIEP’s newsletter, The Editorialist.
* Create marketing materials and assets to promote membership and key benefits.
* Identify opportunities to promote the CIEP at external events that will drive membership growth and promote the value of the editorial profession, and manage our presence at them.
* Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders in support of marketing and communications objectives.
Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to write engaging, accurate copy, and in plain language that uses industry-recognised grammar, spellingand punctuation convention.
* Strong organisational and administration skills with high attention to detail.
* Good project management, quality assurance and time-management skills.
* Cordial and professional with good judgement and decision-making skills.
* Able to think strategically while implementing tactical activities.
* A team player, flexible and adaptable dependent on the needs of the team.
Knowledge and experience
* Marketing specialist with recognised qualifications and/or relevant experience.
* Previous experience in membership and/or professional bodies.
* PR experience is desirable.
Details
* Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
* Hybrid working with a minimum of three full days in the office, per week.
* Flexible working hours within 8am to 6pm window and core hours of 10am to 4pm.
* 25 days holiday (plus statutory bank holidays).
