BMS Software Engineer - Lancashire
As a result of continued company growth, this client is looking for a BMS engineer to join their expanding team. You will contribute to the design, delivery, and verification of their BMS energy conservation initiatives and provide BMS support to their wider project delivery teams. As a BMS project engineer, you will work closely with the team on all aspects of their BMS energy savings initiatives with a key focus on project implementation. Projects you will be involved in will include the optimisation of existing BMS control strategies, the partial and full upgrade of obsolete BMS controls and associated network infrastructure, and the integration, control, and monitoring of low carbon solutions. Key Responsibilities:
1. Carrying out detailed surveys of BMS and controlled HVAC equipment to support the identification of BMS and HVAC energy conservation initiatives.
2. Assessing the baseline performance of BMS control strategies through the interrogation of strategy drawings, O&M documentation, and observed operating conditions.
3. Identifying and collecting existing BMS logs, or setting up new logging as applicable, to support the modelling of potential BMS and HVAC energy savings initiatives.
4. Working with our BMS sub-contractor supply chain to design and cost BMS energy savings initiatives for EPC tenders, high-level assessment, and investment-grade proposals.
5. Working closely with the BMS sub-contractor supply chain to create, review, and seek client approval of BMS reviewable design data such as control philosophy, risk assessment, method statement, and impact assessment.
6. Working closely with our project delivery teams to ensure BMS initiatives are delivered to the agreed design specifications within timeframe and budget.
7. Supporting the commissioning, witness testing, and handover of delivered BMS energy savings initiatives.
8. Supporting the measurement and verification of guaranteed energy savings.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will be a hardworking and self-motivated individual with demonstrable experience delivering BMS optimisation and upgrade projects. They will have experience working with BMS sub-contractors and project delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered to specification and within agreed budget and timeframes.
Skills/Experience:
1. Experience within energy performance contracting is advantageous.
2. Experience of BMS and HVAC control strategy design and operation.
3. Experience delivering BMS projects through BMS sub-contractor supply chain.
4. Experience integrating HVAC plant into BMS with a good working knowledge of common high-level networks such as BACnet, Modbus, and MBus.
5. Experience working with customer IT teams to identify and deliver IT infrastructure upgrades to migrate from proprietary BMS networks to Ethernet-based systems.
