This is an exciting opportunity to join our Monitoring Direct Payment team, which is part of our System and Finance service within Integrated Commissioning and Partnerships at Calderdale Council. The team supports the Adults and Children’s Social Care directorates and is responsible for ensuring that Direct Payments are monitored in line with support plans for individuals who want to manage their personal budget via a Direct Payment. The team will request evidence and cross-reference this against support plans, ensuring that spend is appropriate and accounted for.
We are looking to recruit a professional, friendly, and customer-focused Monitoring Team Leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the Monitoring team. The Monitoring Team Leader will promote, lead, and maintain a customer-focused, high-quality service, ensuring that Direct Payments are monitored on an annual basis and in line with the legislation, policies, and procedures.
You will be expected to lead the Monitoring Team in developing and maintaining effective systems to manage and monitor Direct Payments, in addition to leading and managing a team of Monitoring Officers to provide advice, support, and information for individuals or their representatives in receipt of a Direct Payment on behalf of the Directorate. You will also work closely with the Direct Payment, Care Charging, Financial Assessment, and Sundry Income teams. You will need to possess initiative, the ability to work to deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail given the duties involved.
The role will work closely with individuals in receipt of a Direct Payment, promoting and maintaining a customer-focused, high-quality service, and ensuring all queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner, in line with Adult’s and Children’s policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have Level 4 in a relevant Financial or Health & Social Care qualification or demonstrable relevant experience, in addition to:
1. Having strong numeracy skills, and the ability to interpret complex information.
2. The ability to establish effective working relationships with individuals in receipt of Direct Payments, internal & external partners.
3. The ability to work in an analytical, finance and process-driven environment.
4. Having good knowledge and understanding of Adult Social Care services and practices, particularly direct payments.
