Job Function: Capital Project Delivery
At National Grid, we light up the world by harnessing the unique strengths of our people. Join us as a Senior Project Manager – Development & Delivery to be part of a team that's driving forward the energy transition, creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with a demonstrable background in managing major infrastructure projects with significant technical, consents and/or land rights aspects. The role will lead a multi-function team of both in-house resource and external consultants in a diverse matrix organisation. Excellent Stakeholder and Customer Management skills will be key to success in this role.
You are at the heart of delivering the Customer Connections portfolio, connecting a major renewable energy generator to deliver on our net zero targets and enable the UK's transition to green energy.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is completely committed to getting their project(s) delivered safely, on time, and to budget. You will have experience in managing large-scale projects (CAPEX £100m+) from development through to delivery, able to understand and balance technical, planning, and commercial risk, and demonstrate an exceptional level of stakeholder management. Experience could include work within utilities or UK development projects and involve roles facing local authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, customers, and regulators. You will have experience of identifying and instructing project resources ahead of need and contract management practice in a similar field or discipline.
You’ll have strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience of leading cross-functional teams and a stakeholder-centric approach to delivering high-quality output. You’ll be a self-starter who is good at playing devil’s advocate and foreseeing potential problems. You may have experience outside of a client role as either contractor or customer.
You’ll ideally have a degree or qualification in project management, engineering, town and country planning, environmental disciplines, surveying, or equivalent experience, and you will need a driving license that permits you to drive in the UK.
Training and development
We are keen to see our people progress and will support you in gaining the qualifications and skills you need to develop, bespoke to your needs and those of the business.
What you'll get
* Base salary exceeding £70,000, dependent on capability.
* Annual Performance Based Bonus up to 15% of your base salary.
* 28 days annual leave plus eight statutory days, and the option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
* Generous contributory pension scheme – we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
* Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees, and time off for study leave – so long as it’s relevant to your role.
* Access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines, and matched charity giving.
* Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
* Access to numerous apps which support health, fitness, and wellbeing.
* Hybrid working (home-based contract).
