Founded in 2006 at Pallant House Gallery and established as an independent charity in 2017, Outside In is a pioneering organisation that has transformed access to the art world for thousands of artists who face significant barriers due to health, disability, social circumstance, or isolation. With over 4,000 artists showcased through our digital platform and a network of regional hubs across England, Outside In has become the leading voice for artists working outside the mainstream. Our comprehensive programme encompasses artist development, exhibitions, and training, supported by a dedicated community of supporters and partners. The organisation's impact has been recognised through prestigious accolades including the Charity Award for Arts and Heritage and the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services. As we approach our 20th anniversary, Outside In seeks an exceptional Director to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of inclusive arts practice in the UK by heading an established charity that's reimagining how the art world operates and who it serves. The new Director will build on Outside In's strong foundation and loyal supporter base to expand its reach and impact nationally. They will lead a talented team of 13 full time staff, plus a nationwide community of volunteers, across exhibitions, artist development, training, and communications, while fostering new partnerships and funding relationships to ensure long-term sustainability. Working closely with the Board of Trustees and supported by funders including Arts Council England, the Director will drive forward Outside In's mission to create a fairer art world that challenges traditional values and institutional judgments. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with proven experience in delivering programmes to diverse communities, experience of charity leadership and the ability to build strategic relationships across the cultural sector.
