Job summary Here at Derian House we are looking to recruit Registered Paediatric Nurses. To work as part of an integrated team, alongside a wider multi-disciplinary team respecting the skills, expertise and contributions of others in the provision of holistic care and support to Babies, Children, Young People (BCYP) and their families using Derian House. To be responsible for the assessment of the BCYPs care needs, including the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. To assist in the management and organisation of work as required by the Care Team Leader, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times and to provide support for junior staff within the hospice team. To play a key role in the supervision and assessment of designated staff as required, undertaking the role of mentor and acting as a named supervisor. Main duties of the job Ensure that care for babies, children and young adults is person centered, assessed, planned, delivered and evaluated respecting babies, children and young peoples daily routines and promoting independence as far as possible. To be responsible for providing safe and effective care in line with the hospices operating procedures and guidelines and act as a resource for all members of the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist professional, care and support. To be responsible for improving and maintaining the physical and mental health of the babies, children and young people. Ensure barriers to achieving this are reduced wherever possible and appropriate. To adapt the delivery of care according to the emotional, physical and environmental demands. To participate in the primary assessment for newly referred children. To refer to the Team Leader for advice/guidance during a shift as and when required Ensure the respect, dignity and rights of babies, children, young people and their families are upheld at all times. To be responsible and accountable for the safe administration of medicines within the hospice on a shift basis ensuring medicine management policies and procedures are adhered to as per NMC guidelines.
