Use our total rewards calculator: https://www.hw.ac.uk/about/work/total-rewards-calculator.htm to see the value of benefits provided by Heriot-Watt University Detailed Description The Network Manager will be responsible for supporting and coordinating a research network led by Heriot-Watt University, in partnership with the University of Strathclyde and Age Scotland, and funded by EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council). The network will explore opportunities for new and existing technologies to support and enhance independence in people living with dementia. This role involves overseeing the operational aspects of the network, managing external collaborations, organizing events, and ensuring that the budget and activities progress according to timelines. The Network Manager will work closely with academic researchers, industry stakeholders, health and social care organizations, partners, and funding bodies to ensure the success and sustainability of the research network. Key Duties and Responsibilities Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the network. Manage research network budget, milestones and deliverables, ensuring alignment with funding timelines and objectives. Maintain accurate records of the network and report on progress as required. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, health and social care providers, industry partners, and policymakers. Coordinate and facilitate activities and reporting requirements with the core staff team Facilitate cross-disciplinary research collaboration across the network. Identify and pursue new opportunities for collaboration and funding. Event Management and Networking: Organise and manage events such as workshops, conferences, and networking meetings. Ensure that the events foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, aligning with the strategic goals of the research project. Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress of the project, providing regular updates to stakeholders and funding bodies. Prepare detailed progress reports, presentations and budget updates for both internal and external audiences. Identify any challenges or delays in project execution and implement solutions to address them. Sustainability and Growth: Develop strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the research network beyond the initial funding period. Assist in writing grant proposals to secure additional funding and resources. Communication: Develop and implement effective communication strategies for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that research findings and outputs are communicated clearly and effectively. Education, Qualifications and Experience Essential Criteria Qualifications: A degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, public health, psychology/neuroscience, or project management). Additional qualifications or certifications in research administration, network management event planning, or project management are desirable. Experience: Demonstrable experience in managing research projects, networks, or initiatives. Strong background in stakeholder management and collaboration across academic, industry, and healthcare sectors. Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in organising and managing events, workshops, or conferences. Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and project management abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant project management tool. Desirable Passion for dementia research and healthcare innovation. Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
