Position title: Commercial Head of Fleet

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Commercial Head of Fleet will be responsible for the strategic sight of the entire fleet and make decisions based on cost, contracts, and residual value. You will be responsible for the daily running of over 300+ vehicles comprising commercial vans and company cars, you will have a strong focus on delivering a great service to your internal customers.
The role is to provide professional, strategic advice to senior leaders and field management teams to ensure sufficient, appropriate vehicles are made available to field engineers and managers across the business. The Commercial Head of Fleet will develop and lead the strategic direction of fleet management at Pacifica with direction from the head of Supply Chain and Chief Commercial Officer.
As Commercial Head of Fleet, you will be a proven change manager with a strategic approach and experience in vehicle management at a senior level, with strong commercial negotiation skills, technical and customer-focused, and an ability to react quickly in a dynamic fast moving service environment.
This role is based in the North East located at our Washington Warehouse, NE38 8QU, working with the Directors of the business, office-based and field-based managers, and 9 regional teams comprising 200+ field engineers.
Key Elements
Forecasting ongoing demand for vans and cars.
Negotiating contracts and service agreements with suppliers.
Researching options to source best-value vehicles.
Researching opportunities to introduce "greener "vehicles across the fleet.
Forecasting price trends and predicting how they will affect the group.
Running tenders and evaluating bids before making commercially relevant recommendations.
Creating and maintaining positive relationships with current and new suppliers.
Ensuring procurement sources are secure and sustainable.
Arranging replacement and disposal of damaged and older vehicles.
Continually improving and implementing the Pacifica vehicle policy regarding fleet operations.
Managing accurate and detailed records of vehicle inspections and services.
Ensure the on/off hire process is managed effectively and damages/losses are recovered.
Management of fuel cards, and monthly fuel spending and trends.
Ensure all vehicles are fully tracked and all new vehicles are fitted with tracking devices.
Management reporting of Fleet trackers statistics and driver point scores.
Develop processes to ensure accurate records are maintained.
Required Experience
Extensive knowledge developed working in a fleet management role.
Commercial and financial awareness.
The ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to make important decisions in a pressurised environment.
Proven track record of developing and implementing a fleet strategy.
Well-developed analytical skills.
Proven Management skills.
Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced organisation.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in building and maintaining service contracts.
Proven ability to negotiate to achieve the best value.
Experience of Driver Management, accident reduction and vehicle purchasing
Proficient in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
Operations management: 2 years Senior Fleet Management experience.
Desirable
Preferably holding fleet management qualifications
Any high-level Vehicle Technical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc).
Full Membership of professional bodies, or higher level qualifications awarded by:
o Institute of the Motor Industry
