The Role
We are currently recruiting for a new Funds Lawyer to work within our existing in-house Legal Team. This role will provide legal support to a number of product areas covering a broad range of funds-based transactions and support the activities of the wider Legal and Governance team.
The role will focus primarily on supporting fund investment programmes across BBB including transactions in private closed ended debt funds and venture capital funds, funds-of-funds, listed funds, and non-regulated investment vehicles funded by private and public sources of finance.
You will also advise on financial regulation and provide general commercial advice in an in-house financial services context. You will be required to manage external counsel and legal fees and all members of the legal team are required to contribute to know-how and training.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with a minimum of 4 years+ PQE. This position will be based in London or Sheffield and will be a hybrid role with a requirement to work 2 days per week in the office.
To be considered for this role the postholder will ideally have established post qualification experience ideally with some in-house experience advising on and managing funds transactions in the financial services/asset management space.
Excellent technical skills are essential, as well as knowledge of a range of products within the funds space, including debt and venture, private closed ended and publicly listed, foreign and domestic funds structures.
Experience of acting for institutional investors with a similar profile to the Bank would be a distinct advantage and strong transactional skills, with experience of working with front line business leads essential and managing external legal counsel would also be highly desirable.
You will have technical expertise in financial regulation advisory, both supporting due diligence and investment structures in transactional work as well as advising on the Bank’s own activities.
Knowledge of one or more of state aid, public law, freedom of information, data protection, judicial review, procurement law would be an advantage, but training and support will be given.
General commercial legal skills, including an ability to handle non-funds legal work in an in-house environment would be beneficial however, candidates applying from private practice roles will also be considered provided they can demonstrate a genuine ability to adapt to an in-house environment.
