The difference you will make as a Building Control Officer You will act as the nominated Building Control Officer for all projects within scope that fall under the new building safety regulator. Gatekeep and manage all works considered category A works, ensuring Riverside Group comply with new building control requirements. You will also work within the building safety team supporting compliance with the building safety act requirements, engaging with all internal and external stakeholders. About you We are looking for someone with: Experience of successfully undertaking the role of Building Safety /Building Control Officer, Project Manager within a similar organisation. Working knowledge of the building control and planning process. Ability to engage with stakeholders, understanding program and project requirements, assessing against building safety act requirement. Excellent team player who can work flexibly to meet business requirements. Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan & prioritise work against deadlines. Effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation. Proficient in the use of IT systems including MS Office and Outlook. Evidence of accurately reviewing, collating, and recording a variety of data for meaningful analysis. Role Profile Management building control process for day-to-day Category A projects within high rise buildings. Engage with planned works teams to manage upcoming works within high rise property’s ensuring applications are submitted the building safety regulator within time. Undertake some CDM & Health and safety site inspections ensuring compliance. Record outcomes of inspections assess any hazards and determine the appropriate action and timescale to mitigate any risks. Management of procurement and management of all documents required to submit building control applications, including drawings and plans, construction control plan, change control plan, mandatory occurrence reporting plan, building regulations compliance statement, fire and emergency file. Manage and track any Safety Escalations, this may include any out of service fire safety equipment, lifting equipment. Responsible for ensuring work carried out on our properties are completed to an acceptable standard, (Cost & quality of the services), including all works within a high rise building. Oversee planning and execution of day-to-day operations, within high rise buildings. Escalate any building safety risks/concerns to the Team Leader within set timescales, and using agreed reporting tools, to enable remedial action to be carried out to mitigate risks identified. Maintain accurate records using appropriate systems, ensuring the integrity and quality of building application data data, to enable regular analysis to be carried out and reporting to be completed as required, including progress against key performance indicators. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and residents colleagues to resolve communal issues while delivering excellent customer service, ensuring high rates of satisfaction to minimise complaints and obtain a basic understanding of service charge budgets and explain these to customers. Follow agreed internal business processes, adhering to relevant regulatory, building safety management process behalf of the Group. Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures. Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service. Ensure that all data protection requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements. Excellent team player who can work flexibly to meet business requirements. Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan & prioritise work against deadlines. Excellent communication skills Ability to use own initiative and judgement and to work collaboratively. Currently hold or Willingness to complete level 3 Fire/nebosh Health and Safety /IRPM property management qualification or equivalent. Desirable: Ability to read and adapt drawings/fire and emergency plans for building control applications. Knowledge of Compliance Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems including Housing Management Systems e.g., Open Housing management, C365, Promaster, and Capita software systems. Experience of problem solving and implementing innovative solutions. Proven track record of monitoring risk and health and safety compliance and carrying out inspections within a housing environment. Knowledge of asbestos, legionella, building regulations, fire regulations, health and safety regulations and carrying out risk assessments within a housing environment. Experience in the use of ‘handheld’ tablet devices.
