An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced manager, who has a strong interest in supporting young people aged 0-18. These children and young people are looked after, and our teams support and develop permanency and care planning. We also support young people out of care and back to family members, as well as those who are approaching leaving care to develop meaningful pathway plans to reach their future aspirations.
Here in Darlington, we are fully committed to working within our relational practice model as we continue with our Strengthening Families approach – Family Valued Programme. Our goals and vision are all about keeping families together where it is safe to do so. We work with each family’s strengths to help them meet the challenges they face, alongside supporting our practitioners to do the transformational work needed to reduce or prevent the need for children to be taken into care. When children do need to come into care, we want them to understand why, and we want to support them to achieve stability and permanence as soon as possible.
As Team Manager in the Children Looked After Service, you will be responsible for leading a talented group of Newly Qualified Social Workers, experienced Social Workers, and Senior Practitioners. You will be required to provide advice, support, and guidance to the team, be responsible for quality assurance activity, driving performance, supervision, and service developments. The role will focus on enabling the best possible outcomes for children and young people by:
* Supporting them to remain safely in their home or community environment, where possible.
* Ensuring they achieve positive outcomes through effective social work intervention.
* Delivering services with measurable benefits to service users, grounded in best professional practice and standards.
* Supporting children to move out of our care and back to the care of friends and families.
This role offers a flexible, blended approach to home and office working.
