An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Applications Scientist to join our Consumer Care team based at the Materials Innovation Factory in Liverpool. In this varied role, you will be working in the Formulation Science team for the Beauty Care business. The role will primarily involve investigation and characterisation of new molecules as surfactants, emulsifiers or rheology modifiers to contribute to Croda’s portfolio of molecules, linking synthesis and formulation applications team, and helping understand the fundamental science. Additionally, the role will involve working on new and existing product development projects, formulating, carrying out customer related work requests, and will require application of different techniques including automation. Overall, the role is highly varied across Croda’s fundamental chemistry and market driven applications.

Essentials:
* You will be an innovative scientist with a keen desire to learn, and a proactive, adaptable, and independent problem solver.
* You will be an effective communicator (written and verbal), and capable of building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* You will be comfortable using your own initiative as well as working as part of a wider team.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills with experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously.
* A Bachelor or Master’s degree in any Chemistry discipline, or equivalent work experience is required with previous laboratory experience essential.
Desirables:
* Formulation experience and a background in previous consumer care industry would be a distinct advantage.
* Prior experience with some of the following techniques such as rheology, analytical tools such as spectroscopy, microscopy and assay development would be useful.
* Some prior experience of automation would be very useful but not essential.
* Knowledge of different ingredients involved in personal care formulations.
* Knowledge of statistical and analytical tools such as JMP.
