KBR is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to work in our Leatherhead office.
As the lead engineer for the electrical engineering team, you will be responsible for the delivery of the electrical design for projects relating to energy transition. This may be a conceptual study or front-end engineering design (FEED) or an EPC / detailed design execution involving the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility. There will be a focus within the design on cost, schedule, safety, reliability, and quality at all stages of the projects.
You will be leading a team of engineers and designers to deliver the project as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The electrical design will be for an offshore or onshore facility (greenfield or brownfield), refining, hydrogen, renewables etc.
You will be working as the technical specialist for study, design, specification and services related to electrical systems including power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems performance and control, switchgear, earthing systems, lightning protection systems, heat tracing etc. depending on the project phase.
* Advising in the design of electrical system to required specifications, focusing on cost, schedule, safety, reliability, and quality.
* Select and apply the relevant codes and standards applicable to the electrical systems design.
* Creating technical reports and interpreting manufacturing data for inclusion in the systems study models.
* Estimating and planning man hours for scopes of electrical study work.
* Creating engineering solutions for large electrical systems including generation over 500 megawatts and large 50 MW variable speed drives.
* Acting as a technical expert within a project.
* Guiding and advising other members of the electrical engineering team.
* Working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include engineers from other specialisms including mechanical, structural, civil and instrumentation, liaising with clients, vendors and contractors.
Skills & Experience:
* Concept / FEED / EPC Electrical Engineering experience (Energy Transition Projects).
* Interpreting technical drawings and / or creating or checking schematics or other electrical drawings.
* Managing electrical interfaces between packages including GTGs and Switchgear.
* Vendor package management (electrical and mechanical packages).
* Good working knowledge of Electrical design at 132kV to 400V.
* Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
* User of ETAP software or equivalent.
Educational Experience:
* Bachelors/Masters degree in an Electrical Engineering subject with relevant industry experience.
* Chartered engineer status with a relevant professional body preferred.
