The Leeds specialist perinatal community team has been functioning since 2004. The annual birth rate for the city of Leeds is upwards of 8700. Current referral rates to the perinatal service are about 1100 annually. It is expected that with the fully staffed community team, all women with perinatal mental health problems in the moderate to severe spectrum requiring specialist assessment and advice will receive specialist intervention.
It is expected that approximately 1000 women will receive care annually. All team members will be involved in assessments and the post holder will provide clinical leadership to the team.
Other members of the community team will include 2.2 WTE Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist, 1.0 WTE band 7 Clinical team manager, consultant psychologist, principal psychologists, therapist, band 6 Community, nursery nurse, social worker, band 3 admin, peer support workers and Occupational therapist. The MDT meets the criteria set by the RCPsych /CCQI and is an accredited service.

This is a 10 PA post plus a 1% category B availability for out of hours on-call duties.
