Brereton Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic, organised, resilient, dedicated, flexible, and highly motivated individual to join our friendly and hard-working reception team.
The successful candidate will provide a high-quality reception service to patients, clinicians, and colleagues; have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, and have the ability to multitask in a busy environment. Previous experience of working in a GP practice would be desirable but not essential.
The vacancy is for a permanent post of 15 hours per week, and you will be required to work Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 8.00pm on a rota basis. You must be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness at short notice.
Main duties of the job
As part of the reception team, you will be responsible for ensuring that reception duties are performed effectively to provide a high standard of service to the practice population. You will be involved in the development and implementation of systems and processes to continuously improve on service delivery.

We are a training practice with a small team that consists of GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Practice Pharmacist, a Practice Nurse, a Senior Healthcare Assistant, a GP Assistant, a Practice Manager, an Office Manager, a Senior Administrator, a Data & Information Administrator, a Medical Secretary, and 5 Receptionists. We work in collaboration with our neighbouring practices within our PCN (Rugeley & Great Haywood), currently working alongside Practice Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, a Physicians Associate, a Social Prescriber, First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, a Support Time Recovery Worker, a Paramedic, and an Urgent Care Practitioner.
Job responsibilities
1. To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the reception area, ensuring reception duties are completed efficiently and adhere to the guidelines laid down by partners and management.
2. To ensure that patients are received, assisted, and directed appropriately in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
3. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
4. The work is of a highly confidential nature, and no information, either medical or personal, should be disclosed outside of practice personnel.
5. To work without supervision and use initiative in the execution of duties.
