Assistant Buyer – Construction
Location: South Manchester
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 plus package
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client are a leading construction company based in South Manchester, specialising in delivering high-quality construction projects across residential and commercial sectors. With a strong track record of success and growth, they are now seeking an Assistant Buyer to join their dynamic procurement team. Role Overview:
As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a vital role in supporting the procurement team with the purchasing of construction materials and supplies for ongoing and upcoming projects. You will work closely with suppliers, project managers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of materials while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in sourcing and purchasing construction materials, tools, and equipment in line with project specifications.
* Support senior buyers in negotiating with suppliers to secure the best prices and delivery terms.
* Maintain accurate records of all purchases and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
* Monitor inventory levels and help manage stock control for construction sites.
* Ensure that all materials meet the required quality standards and project specifications.
* Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that project requirements are met on time and within budget.
* Provide administrative support to the procurement team, including raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience in materials purchasing or procurement within the construction industry (or a related field) is preferred.
* Strong understanding of construction materials
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
* A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the company.
* A driving license is preferred but not essential.
