The Hub Control Room team has opportunities for Control Engineers in Manchester. About the Opportunity As a Control Engineer you will manage an effective fault restoration strategy in order to meet business and regulatory targets, also to look ahead and assess the impact that proposed system outages will have on system security. You will ensure that all safety legislation and company codes of practice are adhered to during planned and unplanned outages on the electrical network and ensure that operational standards of security of supply are maintained. You will carry out real time monitoring and control of the ENWL electricity distribution networks, ensuring we have a robust Control Room and during incidents we deliver a comprehensive service to our customers and the wider business. Principal Responsibilities of the role include: Manage the electricity network in order to optimize system security and supply; Manage the restoration of customer s supplies to achieve performance targets; Manage the distribution network including undertaking power system analysis to determine plant availability; maximize generator output requirements and control network power flows and fault levels; Liaise with customers, embedded generators and other DNO s; Proactively identify opportunities for network and reliability improvements; Plan network outages based on whole system solutions and liaise with affected stakeholders Promote a safe working environment. Who we are looking for The ideal candidate will hold an HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering (essential) Have an understanding of electrical power systems; Understanding of Network Management System (NMS) Be an excellent written and verbal communicator; Be highly focused on safety management; Have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence people at all levels, including internal and external customers; Be focused on providing excellent customer service.
