Job Description
To organise, lead, coordinate, and direct a multi-discipline design engineering team (including technical, safety case, and supply chain as applicable) that delivers engineering work packages (specification, analysis, verification, or assessment of engineering).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring work portfolio is delivered and controlled efficiently and effectively to meet agreed specifications, cost, and schedule.
2. Ensuring design solutions are fit for purpose, integrated, affordable, and deliver the business case, functional specification, and project execution plan.
3. Identifying, owning, and managing all technical, safety, and engineering risks.
4. Reporting the status and performance of work accurately and timely.
5. Deploying appropriate design standards and practices; ensuring deliverables and solutions are safe, legal, and adequately underpinned.
6. Deploying competent personnel and providing accurate and timely resource forecasts.
7. Implementing design resource strategies within the portfolio.
8. Filling key design roles with SQEPed and competent personnel; ensuring duties of the CDM coordinator are discharged.
9. Engaging subject matter experts appropriately and timely; capturing, disseminating, and utilizing lessons learned effectively.
Location: Abingdon, Warrington, or Wesltakes
Work Schedule: Full-time (37 hours/week) or part-time (3 days, 25 hours/week, pro-rata)

Qualifications:
* Degree: Preferred – MEng (Hons)
Professional Membership:
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Fellow (FEng)
Note: Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of chartership if deemed appropriate by the Head of Engineering.
Experience:
* At least 7 years within the last 10 years working in roles where engineering knowledge was key; the last 5 years should be within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear) involving professional engineering judgment.
* Preferred: 8 years within the last 10 years in engineering design.
* Experience in chairing governance reviews, design reviews, and gate reviews to accept designs, strategies, and provide technical governance.
