An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 midwife to join the antenatal outpatients team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to specialise as a Diabetes in Pregnancy Midwife.
We are looking for an efficient, well-motivated and enthusiastic midwife to help lead and continue to develop the Maternal Diabetes Service. The Diabetes in Pregnancy Midwife will provide specialist advice and support to mothers and staff within maternity.
The successful candidate will be a registered midwife with relevant clinical experience in high-risk midwifery care and a commitment to continued professional development in this specialty.
This role will include a requirement to teach, assess, supervise and support midwives in their rotation to antenatal clinic. You will be supported to demonstrate an advanced level of Diabetes knowledge using current evidence-based research and practice, contributing to the development of midwifery within the maternity services at YSFTH.
Demonstrating strong leadership qualities, you will be open, transparent and designated to take a management responsibility in the absence of the Diabetes Lead Midwife. The post holder may be required to be deployed outside of their normal work setting, depending on clinical risk and service need. The post holder will work within the framework of the NMC Midwives Code of Practice and York and Scarborough NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust Guidelines and Protocols.
The post-holder will be highly visible, accessible within clinical practice, demonstrating the trust vision and values in all behaviours.
