This is a superspringboard opportunity for a highly driven Finance leader with a strong technical background, with the mission of transforming finance operations, and the aspiration that the person who goes into this position will have the ambition and capability to potentially step up into the CFO role in the future.
The selected candidate will oversee the transformation of the Finance shared services function, with responsibility for all aspects of external financial reporting, balance sheet management, cash flow, and risk management.
Responsibilities of the Group Financial Controller include:
1. Ensure the accurate and timely production of statutory accounts, bank reports, and other external financial reports
2. Manage balance sheet and cash flow within the budgeting and forecasting process
3. Lead the transformation, standardisation, and automation of Finance shared services, including payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash, and treasury
4. Drive balance sheet control, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data
5. Establish and manage a robust risk management framework, overseeing all risk and assurance activities
6. Lead the Group’s tax and treasury functions, overseeing a Tax Accountant and building strong relationships with banks and HMRC
7. Serve as the main contact for audits and manage the relationship with external auditors
8. Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
The successful Group Financial Controller will require the following knowledge and experience:
1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
2. Strong technical accounting background – solid knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and Tax; rigorous around Balance Sheet control. A top tier practice background would be advantageous
3. Experience of process review/improvement/re-engineering, with a mindset for excellence and exceptional professional integrity
4. Excellent leadership qualities, with gravitas and the ability to inspire and challenge teams and individuals toward optimal performance
5. Confident, robust and highly motivated
Salary to £110,000p.a. with Director level package to include: Bonus to 40%, £8,600 car allowance, 10% pension, BUPA, 6x Life Cover, 34 days Annual Leave (inc. BH) increasing to 37, 50/50 hybrid working.
