Job Description:
As a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner you’ll support adults and families living in our safe accommodation services. You’ll deliver focused and tailored one-to-one support to help them live a life free from abuse.
Job requirements
* Work with customers to identify their individual support needs.
* Provide a tailored support package and deliver practical, emotional and advocacy support.
* Support customers to make sure they understand their rights and responsibilities within the accommodation when they move in.
* Support customers to engage with internal and external agencies to access services, develop their skills and achieve their goals.
* Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the identified needs of customers. This might include providing reports for, or attending, meetings such as MARAC and CYP conferences.
* Advocate for customers to make sure agencies understand and meet their needs.
* Work as part of a team to set up and manage safe accommodation in the community, which is an extension of refuge.
* Manage staff and provide support as a line manager. Help customers transition from safe accommodation to managing their own tenancy, offering group or 1:1 support.
* Participate in relevant training to share best practices with colleagues and professionals.
What we’re looking for
* A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.
* Experience delivering support to customers, recognising their individual needs, making sure they have access to opportunities, all while meeting set deadlines.
* Experience supporting adults with complex needs such as relationship abuse and mental health.
* Experience of supporting a team, completing appraisals and check-ins.
* Knowledge of housing and health and safety requirements in a safe accommodation setting.
* An understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them.
* The ability to work well under pressure and in complex situations.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for work.
