We are keen to speak to dedicated and passionate support workers who are committed to making a difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our communities. You will join specialist teams who deliver high level support, create safe environments and offer a deep understanding of how trauma and a young person's journey through life has an impact on current behaviours, communication and understanding.

What can you expect from joining a specialist team:
8. an opportunity to dedicate your experience and skills to a child or young person
9. providing day to day support relating to activities, appointments, family contact and much more ideally you will have a driver's licence and business insurance
10. being busy engaging and encouraging the child or young person to take part in activities and form structure
11. providing accurate reports and information to support the development of care plans and goals
12. playing a critical role in the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person
the role - each specialist team will have differences, to excel in this specialist setting you will need to evidence:
13. supporting children and young people in a residential setting
14. confidence to work with colleagues at times of heightened behaviours to de-escalate situations
15. experience of using de-escalation techniques to keep children and young people safe
16. experience making decisions and taking action in challenging situations
17. an understanding of detailed and accurate daily record keeping, incident reporting
18. be creative when engaging and establishing trust with children and young people
19. demonstrate sound communication and judgement
20. clarity over protecting personal and professional boundaries at all times
commitment - as an integral part of a specialist team we are looking for individuals who can;
21. be a consistent part of a team offering dedicated support to a child or young person
22. provide availability and maintain this for the duration of the support required
23. to take time to read relevant reports, referrals and profiles to gain insight to the child or young person
personality - our specialist staff teams are successful because they are passionate and have a deep commitment to providing safety and support when it is needed most. To join this team we look for individuals who demonstrate the following:
24. calmness during crisis situations such as aggression, self harm, destructive behaviours for example
25. confidence in your experience to support you making prompt decisions on a daily basis
26. understanding of how trauma, previous experiences and diagnoses can impact day to day behaviours of children and young people
27. non judgemental keeping an open mind and refraining from criticising even during challenging situations
28. resilience to continue supporting through particularly stressful situations and to keep trying new ways to engage and build trust
Skills and training:
29. Ideally drivers licence and business
30. SSSC registration or willing to do so
31. PMVA trained - ideally or willing to undertake training
