This part time (0.6FTE) maternity cover post is available from January 2024 on a 12 month fixed term basis.
Summary of the role
The post of Lecturer in Mining and Exploration Geology will support the delivery of innovative world-class mining-related education.
About you
For a Lecturer post you will:
1. Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD in Economic Geology or a related area or demonstrably equivalent industrial research experience to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning;
2. Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
3. Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
4. Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching;
5. Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
6. Must have excellent knowledge of GIS.
The post will be based in the Camborne School of Mines (CSM), a discipline within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. With over 130 years of providing high quality education and state-of-the-art research, CSM is one of the world’s best known Mining Schools.
