The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Mentor to join our pastoral team. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting children who may be facing barriers to learning, helping them to develop confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills. This role requires excellent communication, patience, and the ability to motivate and inspire young learners.
Main Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions to support emotional well-being and social development.
Help children build resilience, self-confidence, and positive learning attitudes.
Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance, engagement, and behaviour.
Work closely with teacher and SENDCO to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting students.
Support children in managing emotions and resolving conflicts through restorative approaches.
Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, inclusion, and empathy within the school community.
Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.
Essential Criteria
Experience working with children.
Ability to build trusting relationships with children.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, empathy, and resilience.
Ability to work flexibly and use initiative.
Desirable Criteria
Relevant qualifications in education, child development, and/or mental health.
Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
Experience working in a school or educational setting
