The Just Recruitment Group are seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our clients team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering excellent customer service. This role involves both reactive and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring systems are fully functional and up to code.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and service fire alarm systems, ensuring they are fully operational and meet industry standards.
2. System Testing: Conduct routine testing, inspection, and fault diagnosis on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with fire safety regulations (BS 5839 or relevant local standards).
3. Repairs & Upgrades: Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems, replacing faulty equipment, and carrying out system upgrades as needed.
4. Customer Support: Provide technical support and guidance to clients, offering professional advice and ensuring customer satisfaction.
5. Documentation: Accurately document all work completed, including service reports, test certificates, and system records, and maintain a high standard of paperwork.
6. Compliance & Regulations: Ensure that all fire alarm systems comply with relevant fire safety regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
7. On-call Support: Participate in an on-call rota for emergency repairs and service calls outside normal working hours.
8. Training & Development: Stay updated on industry standards and participate in ongoing training to maintain and improve technical expertise.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
1. Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer or similar role.
2. Thorough knowledge of fire alarm systems (e.g., addressable and conventional systems).
3. Familiarity with relevant fire safety standards (e.g., BS 5839 or equivalent).
4. Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Valid driver's license.
Desirable:
1. Certification in fire alarm systems (e.g., FIA, BAFE, or equivalent).
2. Experience with other fire protection systems (e.g., emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.).
3. Electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Working Conditions:
1. Primarily field-based with travel to customer sites.
2. Occasional work at heights or in confined spaces may be required.
3. Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency services.
