Working closely with all disciplines in the Bids and Tendering department and the wider business, to support delivery of high quality, consistent winning bids, with engineering advice and expertise and effectively mobilising contracted work to the project delivery teams.
The Bids and Tendering team is a centralised function that is responsible for the delivery of all bids, tenders and pre-qualification questionnaires for Siemens Rail Infrastructure business, ensuring appropriate levels of governance and accuracy are applied to a winning strategy. We are flexible on work location you can either be based from Chippenham, Coventry, York, Birmingham or Glasgow, but must be willing to travel to those other sites when required.
You‘ll make a difference by ….
1. Support the entire bid lifecycle, from Bid/No-Bid decisions through customer negotiations to Contract Award, for bids ranging from £10k to £50m+.
2. Develop and implement winning bid strategies by breaking down tender requirements and coordinating technical aspects of estimation and proposal creation.
3. Prepare and coordinate engineering documentation for bids, ensuring consistency, quality, and risk mitigation while incorporating lessons learned.
4. Develop contract-specific specifications and documents to support bid activities, ensuring all technical aspects are delivered on time and meet specifications.
5. Produce and propose cost-effective system solutions and architectures that comply with contract specifications, improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
6. Ensure bid engineering aspects meet customer specifications, safety regulations, and design standards, and support business leads in client negotiations.
7. Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations, including to senior management, and ensure timely communication of all internal reports.
8. Transfer knowledge from the bids and tendering team to delivery teams, verifying tender details and ensuring smooth handover to delivery teams.
9. Facilitate the improvement of company processes and standards within the bids and tendering department and ensure adherence to the Business Management System.
10. Provide office-based technical support to Bid Managers, assisting in bid preparation, client negotiations, and ensuring early integration of purchasing functions.
You’ll win us over by …
11. Being experienced in working in a railway electrification engineering company with a Technical background in railway electrification and rail sub-systems
12. Have an understanding, with experience, of the way in which railway electrification projects are managed and delivered – this is required to influence, monitor and challenge every aspect of the bid i.e, engineering disciplines, planning and project implementation.
13. Having a degree qualified (or equivalent) in a business or technically related discipline
14. Having the ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels within Siemens Rail Infrastructure, whilst fostering strong working relationships in a collaborative manner.
15. Being commercially astute, for application when dealing with technical issues with a client
16. Having a pro-active individual with high energy levels, who is used to working to challenging deadlines.
17. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio/Sharepoint.
