Job Description:
Do you have knowledge and experience of Stage Lighting? Can you operate and programme theatre lighting control systems? Can you work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues and freelance teams to deliver outstanding results?
We are looking for an experienced lighting technician to provide effective and efficient lighting and electrical support to our shows in Stratford-upon-Avon. Working closely with colleagues, creative teams, project staff and freelancers, you will deliver lighting solutions that are within budget and planned timescales.
This position is offered as a full time, fixed term 12 month contract, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, where you will work up to 48 hours per week, typically over 6 days out of 7 during Monday to Sunday.
Reporting to the Head of Lighting, key areas of responsibility include:
* Assisting and deputising for the Senior Lighting Technician(s) in the efficient and effective administration of the department
* Overseeing and participating in the provision of lighting related support for shows, performed on any of the RSC's stages
* Participating in the smooth running of all fit-ups, get-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers and get-outs on Stratford stages
* Assisting with fault finding, repairs and maintenance of all departmental equipment
* Awareness of current Health and Safety legislation
* Participating in the procurement and maintenance of stocks
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:
* Knowledge and understanding of Stage Lighting, electrical and electronic systems
* The ability to operate and programme theatre lighting control systems would be advantageous, we are in the process of moving to ETC Apex desks but also run MA2's.
* Good leadership and supervisory skills
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and keeping safe at work
