The postholder will work collaboratively with Greater Manchester Police to offer a comprehensive mental health service including the Crisis Response Vehicle and service users who are detained under s136 of the MHA. The Team Leader will manage and oversee the Section 136 Assessment Suites, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to individuals detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. The post holder will lead a team, ensuring the provision of safe, effective, and person-centered assessments for individuals in crisis, while also managing day-to-day operational aspects of the service. This position is integral to the care and support provided to individuals in crisis. As a Team Leader, the postholder will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Section 136 Assessment Suites are run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with best practices.
Main duties of the job
Leadership and Team Management:
1. Lead, supervise, and support a team of healthcare professionals, including mental health nurses, social workers, healthcare assistants, and other multidisciplinary team members.
2. Foster a positive team culture, promoting high levels of professional practice and staff well-being.
3. Ensure that all team members are supported with regular supervision, training, and development opportunities.
4. Oversee the team's rota, ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times, particularly during peak hours and emergency situations.
5. Responsible for managing team HR processes including recruitment, absence management/disciplinary/grievance processes.
6. Promote collaborative working with other services, such as emergency services, police, and acute mental health providers, ensuring effective communication and care coordination.

Job responsibilities
Ensure the provision of safe, compassionate, and person-centered care to individuals detained under Section 136, in accordance with the Mental Health Act and relevant safeguarding procedures. Oversee the timely and thorough assessment of individuals within the assessment suite, ensuring that clinical decision-making is sound, ethical, and based on best practice. Review care plans and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to meet individuals' immediate needs, including safeguarding, risk assessment, and referrals to other services as required. Ensure that any incidents, concerns, or complaints are addressed promptly and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Operational and Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the smooth and efficient daily operations of the Section 136 Assessment Suites, ensuring the safe management of facilities, resources, and equipment.
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all assessments, actions taken, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
3. Provide timely reports to senior management and contribute to the development of operational strategies to improve service delivery and outcomes.
4. Responsible for signing off expenses, timesheets, ordering stock.
Training, Development, and Compliance:
1. Ensure that all team members are up to date with relevant training, including Mental Health Act, safeguarding, and other statutory and mandatory training.
2. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to engage in professional development and reflective practice.
3. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards related to mental health care, especially the Mental Health Act and safeguarding requirements.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
1. Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, including social services, police, emergency medical services, and voluntary organizations, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for individuals in crisis.
2. Contribute to the development of service improvement plans and initiatives, based on service user feedback, clinical audits, and performance data.

Education/Qualifications
* RMN / Social Worker / OT.
* Demonstrable post registration experience in mental health.
* Evidence of post-basic qualification and training to post graduate diploma level.
* Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, particularly Section 136, and its application in practice.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a diverse team and manage challenging situations.
