The Opportunity: As the Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement Strategy Lead you will be responsible for creating or facilitating and implementing comprehensive global Diversity, Engagement & Inclusion (DEI) strategies into operational and actionable objectives and developing accompanying performance metrics for all business and people processes. This position also leads and guides Astellas’ ongoing DEI initiatives and manages best practices to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment. Collaborates across the organization to develop a shared vision, mission, and multi-year strategy. Key Activities for this role: Lead the development of DEI strategies to include programs designed to address barriers and promote fairness and justice within Astellas, resulting in successful attraction, retention and engagement of employees, all done in compliance with laws, regulations and industry standards. Collaborate with key stakeholders in the development of strategies such as the increase in hiring, promotion, and retention of diverse talent, increase of communication, Sustainability activities and support of a Supplier Diversity Program. Interact with a broad audience of stakeholders to influence program design, implementation, and improvements from a DEI perspective. Collaborate with HR colleagues and business leaders to embed Diversity and Inclusion into all talent management (identification and development of diverse talent), succession planning, leadership/ development people development, and talent acquisition to ensure the DEI strategies and metrics deliver against the organization’s goals. Identify DEI trends in the internal or external environment and builds strategic solutions to drive success. Establish defined measures of DEI success, targets and short-term and long-term goals and makes adjustments/ improvements progress based on results. Essential Knowledge & Experience: Recommend decision-making criteria and drive execution of established business strategy and direction aligned with enterprise objectives. Facilitate desired organizational culture and environment to foster innovation and growth. Influences key internal stakeholders at the division level. Communicate and engages others within area managed to achieve objectives and align with interdependent areas. Drive decisions and consensus by influencing colleagues and leaders. Provide leadership and direction in managing daily operations, ensuring consistent processes and controls are in place. Fluent in written and spoken business English. Preferred Knowledge & Experience: Extensive and relevant experience in product development in the manufacturing or regulatory field. Advanced, interpersonal written and oral communication skills Advanced collaborative skills with an ability to work both reactively and proactively in a timely manner in a dynamic fast-paced environment; able to manage complex projects by exercising independent decision making and analytical thinking skills. Knowledge/experience of Health Authority regulations, guidelines, and regulatory processes for NCEs, NBEs and product life cycle maintenance Ability to work in cross functional and international environment; detail- and goal-oriented, quality conscientious, and customer-focused. Ability to adhere to strict project timelines; strong team player; good judgment and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems in a timely manner; fluent written and spoken English is required. Additional experience, such as biologics, vaccines, cell/gene therapy or medical devices is preferred. Educations/Qualifications: Master’s Degree or equivalent. Additional Information: This is a permanent, full-time position. This position is based in the United Kingdom. This position follows our hybrid working model. Role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 1 day per week in our local office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
