The purpose of this role is to help students who need additional support in Maths/English to achieve their learning goals. The post holder will be expected to work within the framework of detailed learning and assessment plans drawn up and monitored by the Maths and English Lecturers. The post will also involve supervising students and assisting with the preparation of learning resources and practical equipment and facilities, under the direction of the Curriculum Leader and Lecturers.
Post Reports To: ALS Manager/ ALS Coordinator
Key Accountabilities:
1. To assist the Lecturers and students in Maths/English classes where support is required.
2. To work with designated students, in groups or on an individual basis, to support them in achieving their Maths/English qualifications.
3. To take responsibility for designated students' additional Maths/English needs as directed by the Line Manager or Lecturers and to get them exam ready.
4. To maintain appropriate levels of supervision at all times.
5. To assist in the assessment process, by profiling competencies and recording achievements in liaison with the lecturers.
6. To maintain appropriate records of students' attendance and progress, including registers, learning agreements, learning support plans, etracker updates and audible records of the level of support provided to individual groups of students.
7. To provide emergency cover for Lecturers under guidance of the relevant Head of Department if appropriate.
8. To attend meetings and contribute to team planning activities.
9. To maintain appropriate standards regarding confidentiality.
10. To work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team liaising with staff as appropriate and with parents under direction.
Minimum Requirements: For this role, the candidate will need to have at least an A Level in maths; otherwise, we won't be able to progress their application.
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
