To further strengthen our Geotechnical discipline, we are looking for a Principal Engineer to join us. You'll be working across a portfolio of projects in the rail sector, as well as the opportunity to support our projects across the globe.
Your key responsibilities will be:
1. Acting as CRE (Design) to manage discipline delivery through the Network Rail assurance process, including application of the Network Rail acceptance, review, derogation and non-compliance processes
2. Managing and coordinating delivery of your projects to time and budget, ensuring a high standard of technical quality and compliance with our internal management systems across the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design, including site supervision where required.
3. Production of designs, assessments or checking work, including preparation or checking of calculations, written reports, specifications and other contract deliverables
4. Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice
5. Supervising a team of engineers and technicians, mentoring, and developing less experienced engineers and technicians within your project teams, working with line managers to maximise training and development opportunities
6. Developing and maintaining Client relationships through your project work, including identifying and realising any potential business opportunities
7. Assisting with the preparation of bids and tenders and supporting the Directors in pursuing business development opportunities

On top of that, you’ll have:
8. Achieved Chartership status with CGeol or CEng (or equivalent)
9. An MSc in either Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
10. Significant experience in the rail, tunnelling or infrastructure sectors
11. Experience working in a railway design and build environment.
12. Evidence of undertaking previous CRE(Discipline) roles under the Engineering Management for Project standard (NR/L2/RSE/).
13. Evidence of participating in IDCs or joint IDC/IDRs as a discipline specialist
14. Experience both on site and in the design office
15. Familiarity with Eurocodes
16. Sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the Designer's requirements
17. Broad capability in geotechnical design – earthworks, retaining structures, foundations
18. Sound understanding of the requirements regarding the risk assessment process
19. Good team leadership skills with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers
