Our client is a major employer in the North Ayrshire region and works with new build housing, reactive and planned maintenance of local authority housing stock as well as domestic clients. They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis in Kilmarnock. The successful candidate will ideally have a strong background in maintenance contracts and will play a crucial role in managing and delivering high-quality projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work schedules.
2. Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
3. Negotiate and procure materials, subcontractors, and labor.
4. Monitor project progress and report on costs and budgets.
5. Manage and mitigate risks associated with maintenance contracts.
6. Prepare and submit detailed reports, valuations, and final accounts.
7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
8. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
9. Handle contract administration, including claims and disputes resolution.
10. Advise on contractual matters and commercial risks.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a focus on maintenance contracts.
3. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
4. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
5. Proficient in using industry-related software and tools.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
8. Valid UK driving license.
