Job Description:
Your new company
My client is a reputable engineering consultancy specialising in mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) engineering. With a growing international presence, they are committed to sustainable building practices and environmental excellence.
Your new role
As a Sustainability Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that their projects align with sustainable practices and meet environmental standards. You’ll work closely with their Building Services Engineering team to develop tailored solutions that balance technical feasibility and environmental impact.
1. IES VE (Integrated Environmental Solutions) Modelling: Utilise IES VE software to simulate building performance, energy consumption, and environmental impact. Assess the impact of design choices on energy efficiency, daylight, and thermal comfort.
2. Thermal Load Assessment: Evaluate the heating and cooling requirements of buildings. Analyse thermal loads based on building orientation, insulation, and HVAC systems.
3. Thermal Bridging Calculations: Identify and quantify thermal bridges within building envelopes. Propose mitigation strategies to minimise heat loss.
4. Part L compliance: Ensure compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations (both domestic and non-domestic). Advise on energy efficiency measures, insulation standards, and renewable energy options.
5. Overheating Assessments: Evaluate the risk of overheating in buildings, especially during warmer seasons. Recommend design modifications to mitigate overheating.
6. Energy Strategy Development: Collaborate with project teams to develop sustainable energy strategies. Explore renewable energy sources, energy-efficient systems, and lifecycle cost analysis.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Some experience working with the above requirements.
2. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
3. Proficiency in IES VE modelling software or similar modelling software.
4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
5. Knowledge of building regulations and sustainability standards.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
7. Certification: You should be a qualified BREEAM Assessor, knowledgeable about various BREEAM assessment types (e.g., Non-Domestic buildings).
What you'll get in return
1. £30,000 to £35,000 (DOE)
2. 28 days of holiday (Including bank holidays)
3. New office building
4. Free usage of gym in the office building
5. Hybrid working
6. Professional Development: My client invests in ongoing learning and development. You’ll have access to the latest software and training programs.
7. Collaborative Environment: Work alongside MEP Design Engineers and other professionals in the building services and sustainability sector.
