Job Description
We have industrial placement opportunities available within the electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) team in our multidisciplinary Water Utility Division, the centre of excellence within Mott MacDonald for everything to do with water. We work on a vast range of design projects covering, for example:
* Water treatment
* Wastewater recycling
* Industrial process water
* Irrigation
* Hydropower
We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. We provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. Our clients include the majority of UK water utility companies, and many other governmental organisations and private companies in the UK and overseas.
On your placement you will undertake a wide range of EICA tasks, typically including:
* Research into potential solutions to clients’ engineering challenges
* Arranging power supplies
* Specifying local renewable and back-up generation systems

Candidate Specification
To join us for an industrial trainee placement you must currently be at University or looking for a pre-university placement and studying towards a degree in one of the following subjects:
* Electrical Engineering
* Electrical and Electronic Engineering
* Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
* Electrical and Information Sciences
* Instrumentation and Control Engineering
* Any other electrical, instrumentation, control or automation engineering related degree
You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.
We do not have a formal structure for our placements, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us.
As well as having one of the specific degrees listed above, we are looking for students with the following characteristics:
* A methodical approach to problem solving
* The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
* Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
