Border Vets is a mixed veterinary practice located in Carlisle, on the outskirts of the beautiful Lake District - just 30 minutes from the fells and waters of this stunning National Park, Hadrian’s wall and borderlands, there is ample opportunity to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Carlisle is located next to the M6 and has great routes into Scotland via the A74 (M) and the A7, whilst Newcastle and the North East are easily reached by the A69. There are excellent rail links to London (3hrs 10mins) and Glasgow (60mins).
The team Eden & Border Vets have an inclusive, fun and supportive attitude. Our philosophy is to treat clients’ pets as if they are our own, ensuring our patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible, making every vet visit a pleasant experience for both owner and animal. We are a forward thinking practice, keen to include all staff members in clinical discussions and development of processes.
Across both Eden & Border, we have a strong team of 9 Vets, supported by 6 registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Care Assistants, Practice Director and highly skilled receptionists. CPD and professional development are encouraged in all disciplines, we are also a nurse training practice.
We have a new small animal hospital premises as of first quarter 2025 - with 2 theatres, dental suite with dental x-ray, direct radiography in imaging room, ultrasound, laproscopy, diathermy, multiparameter monitoring for all patients, endoscopy, nurse on site 24 hours. Custom fitted out - dog and cat wards. Also, ovacyte, biochemistry machine, mastatest, ultra-sound scanner, horse rasp, bull semen kit.
Step into a supportive start
This role is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who is looking to be part of a caring, fun and dedicated team, with the drive to give excellent client experience and high-quality care to our patients. We have the right support network to help develop and nurture your talent.
40 hours per week. The role would consist of a four day week plus 1 weeknight on call and participation in a 1 in 4 weekends on call rota.
We have 2 Vet GDP advisors across both practices with experience of supporting new graduates and having both completed the RVC CPD in mentoring, an experienced nursing team to creative safe and supportive environment, nurturing induction process to be taken at the pace of the individual. Initially shadowing & getting to know the team, progressing to supported surgeries, consults and farm visits.
Caseload split of 50% SA 40% Farm 10% Equine.
Company vehicle provided for business purposes.
