At Southampton City Council we are committed to paying Foundation Living Wage as a minimum and we believe apprentices should also be paid fairly. Your salary as an apprentice will be £24,027 annually and may increase in line with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage. Although we can’t guarantee you a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for other roles within the council, and help make sure you are ready for a wider job search with support from our Employment Skills team. About the role: We are looking for a confident and conscientious individual to undertake the role of Apprentice Licensing Officer The Licensing Team carries out a wide variety of statutory licensing functions for both Southampton City Council and, as agents, for Eastleigh Borough Council. The team’s workload is substantial, including, but not limited to, Licensing Act 2003 matters, gambling, lotteries, charitable collections, taxis and private hire vehicles. Initially the main responsibility for the successful applicant will be to assist in the processing and administration of taxi and private hire licences as well as basic inspection of vehicles to ensure compliance with licence conditions. In time it is anticipated that there will be opportunities to assist in other areas of the team’s work. Accuracy, attention to detail and meeting time limits are of paramount importance. If you are flexible, with a strong sense of customer service and can fully commit to working in a team under pressure this could be the challenge you are looking for. Good IT skills and confidence dealing with people would be a great advantage in this role. You will be working towards the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer apprenticeship with the Babington Business College. The duration of this apprenticeship is 15 months with 3 months for the End Point Assessment.
