Our Dialectical Behavioural Therapy provision is seeking to recruit an experienced DBT therapist, accredited by the Society for DBT in Britain & Ireland (SfDBT) or the Linehan Board of Certification, to work as part of our community of DBT therapists.
We deliver a stepped care model of DBT provision including all DBT modes for people with severe emotional dysregulation difficulties at high risk of suicide. We would be interested in also receiving applications from qualified psychologists/psychological therapists committed to training as a DBT therapist.
The post is 0.8 WTE equivalent at Band 7 for staff with a recognised therapy qualification and registration with regulatory body such as the Health and Care Professions Council, British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists.
Working towards DBT accreditation will be a key responsibility in this role. In addition, we would be willing to consider applications for people with a core profession in nursing, occupational therapy or social work who are willing to train as a DBT therapist on a preceptorship basis at Band 6 until SfDBT accreditation is achieved.
Additional hours may be available to build up therapy experience. Supervision and support will be available from a well-established consultation team as well as supervision to promote model adherence. We have access to high quality training and have good links to the wider DBT community both nationally and internationally.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will primarily provide 1-1 and group therapy. They will be expected to fully embrace and work to uphold the DBT Consultation Team Agreements, which are available alongside the Job Description. There is an expectation to engage in anti-racist and inclusive practice. There may also be opportunities, within their competence levels, to support the trauma informed practice of the wider workforce through training, consultation and participation in team-based activities.
The successful candidate will be experienced working with adults with complex mental health needs and familiar with working through a trauma informed lens to understand what has happened to people and ways to alleviate their distress. We welcome innovation, creativity and holistic ways of working to meet the needs of our diverse communities.
We welcome your application and any questions you may have.
