We are seeking to appoint a motivated and inspirational leader as the new Executive Virtual School Headteacher at Wakefield Council.
Due to the retirement of our existing Executive Virtual School Head, this post is now presented as an opportunity for the right candidate to take a lead in this area of responsibility for Wakefield Council. The role will take forward key strategic responsibility for the Virtual School in Wakefield, the extended duties of the Virtual Head Teacher and the exciting development of the Quality and Learning function across Education and Inclusion Services at Wakefield Council.
In response to the imminent changes to the statutory duties for Virtual School Heads, the remit for the role has widened. The DfE has recognised the impact of advocacy for children in care and now seeks to provide that for all children with a social worker. This is an exciting time to join Wakefield and develop this area of corporate parenting. For the right candidate, this is a real opportunity in driving education outcomes forward for Wakefield children. You will join an innovative and driven leadership team that puts children at the centre of its decision-making.
Wakefield Virtual School has a strong track record of working with partners and professionals to prioritise the education of the cohorts of most need. We wish only to build on this strong foundation to ensure all children learn and succeed in Wakefield. This role plays a key interlink across a strong partnership approach in Wakefield district, working closely with Children’s Social Care, Early Years, Schools, and Further Education settings, Health, and wider partners to support the achievement and progression of Wakefield Children.
