The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton is part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. We provide general acute services to the general populations in the City of Brighton and Hove and in Mid Sussex and more specialist and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south coast of England, including being one of the Major Trauma Units along the South East Coast.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic experienced Orthopaedic and Vascular physiotherapist to join our well-established service.
We are looking for a forward-thinking clinician who has substantial experience, at Band 7 level including Orthopaedics and Vascular.
Working within the Major Trauma, Orthopaedic and Vascular Team (MTVO), you will lead a small team providing inpatient care to the Orthopaedic and Vascular wards at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. You will be involved in assessing and treating orthopaedic and vascular patients from both emergency and elective admissions. You will also be involved in managing and taking part in the Orthopaedic weekend service.
Main duties of the job
The Orthopaedic and Vascular Physiotherapy team sit within the Major trauma, vascular and orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team (MTVO). The Band 7 Orthopaedic and Vascular Physiotherapy Lead is responsible to the B8a MTVO lead and Head of Physiotherapy Inpatients. Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team based at The Royal Sussex County Hospital within the MTVO group. Responsible for planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Vascular and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service on a day-to-day basis.
Provide Joint Leadership across all BSUH sites for the BSUH Orthopaedic vascular team.
To provide specialist advice to other professionals both within the Trust and outside agencies e.g. discharge coordinators, nursing staff, and other health and social service colleagues.
To be responsible for teaching, supervision and appraisal of Band 6, Band 5, and Physiotherapy Technical Instructor/Assistant grade staff, and undergraduate students to ensure a high quality of clinical care within the specialty.
Sites include Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital Haywards Heath.

Professional Registration
* Current HCPC registration
Experience/Qualifications
* Diploma in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or overseas equivalent.
* Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses/CPD and reflective practice.
* Experience of leading a team.
* Evidence of relevant Post-graduate level education e.g. MSc/Darzi fellowship
* Relevant validated post-graduate clinical courses Up to date manual and therapeutic handling training
* Awareness of Regional Trauma/Vascular Network groups.
Skills non-clinical
* Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
* Experience of supervising less experienced staff and students
* Involvement in carrying out clinical audit including the co-ordination and evaluation of, and the use of findings to make service developments.
Skills Clinical
* Substantial experience including work at Band 6 level within the specialty and as a ward specialist.
* Experience of working at Band 6 level within in-patient Orthopaedics and vascular. Supported by evidence of post-graduate learning and experience, and its application to clinical practice.
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
