This is an exciting opportunity to join the Elective Orthopaedic service at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital as Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner. The Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust is a welcoming Trust, focused on valuing a person's differences and encouraging them to grow and flourish in their role in healthcare. It is set in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK with easy access to the coast and the Dartmoor national park.
This 37.5 hour/week permanent position will support the Therapy teams in the assessment, diagnosis & treatment of a specified caseload within the Trauma & Orthopaedic ward and day surgery environment. There will be a clear focus on the early mobilisation and rapid discharge of patients following admission to the hospital. The post holder will work alongside the therapy teams and provide close liaison with family, carers and external agencies to ensure safe and effective transfer of patient therapy from the in-patient setting to home or other services as appropriate.
The aim will be to support same day discharge where possible. The post includes regular weekend and bank holidays, long days and commitments across seven days. This role is open to candidates who already hold the Level 5 Assistant Practitioner qualification or who are currently enrolled on the Level 5 Assistant Practitioner training programme. If the successful candidate is currently enrolled on this training programme, they will complete limited duties, reflective of a Rehab Support Worker and be paid at band 3.
On the successful completion of the Assistant Practitioner training course, the candidate will automatically be upgraded to band 4 and their duties will then align with the Assistant Practitioner job description. Working Pattern: Between 8am and 8pm over 7 days. Interview Date: To be confirmed.
