The role of the SEMH teacher will involve working with schools and their pupils to ensure provision meets needs and that outcomes are achieved, and progress is made.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council are participating in the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and AP (Alternative Provision) Change Programme which tests proposed reforms set out in the government SEND & AP Improvement Plan (March 2023).
You will be working with a dedicated, motivated and ambitious Children’s Services team & work closely with the AP Service Lead to support schools, identify and deliver training, plan interventions for pupils and deliver curriculum content. You will facilitate termly cluster meetings and support schools to create and implement child-centred individual plans and assist the AP Lead with quality assurance of AP provisions within Stockton – On – Tees.
Candidates should be passionate about improving outcomes for Children & Young People with SEND and have recent and relevant experience within education linked to SEMH and a secure understanding of the SEMH agenda and needs within this area. They should be able to offer challenge and support to schools, deliver interventions, and offer coaching and modelling opportunities to staff to enable them to meet the needs of their learners.
They should be able to manage and prioritise their own workload, be solution focused and have a commitment to learning new skills.
