Applications are sought from highly motivated individual seeking a new opportunity to join NHS Forth Valley’s Podiatry service.
As part of the Pre-Registration Podiatry; Accessible Recruitment & Employment (PREPARE) Project, we are offering an innovative opportunity to undertake a BSc (Hons) Podiatry degree whilst maintaining full time employment and being fully integrated within service delivery. This employment is offered on the successful undertaking of a 4 year training period and as such successful candidates must meet the eligibility criteria to undertake the graduate degree as offered by Glasgow Caledonian University.
The Podiatry Service aims to deliver high quality care to patients and their carers thorough the provision of triage, assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patient types in a variety of environments.
The service is patient centred and needs led with clinical assessment and diagnosis leading to management plans tailored to meet the needs of individual patients. There is a focus on rehabilitation with a self-care element included in treatment plans where appropriate.
The PREPARE Trainee post, employed on an Annex 21 basis, are NHS Forth Valley’s Podiatry service innovative approach to widening access to adult learners and those who are not able to relocate or leave full time employment to access adult learning opportunities. The PREPARE Trainee will be supported to undertake academic requirements and fully participate within on campus delivery up to 3 days per week with the remaining 2 days being integrated across our Podiatry team during term time. During non-term time, PREPARE trainees will be integrated across our team 5 days per week. This will provide employment within a vocational field of study allowing for exposure to service based requirement and patient facing care to further embed and enhance knowledge and skills.
Continuation of employment to a substantive Band 5 Podiatrist basis is subject to successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Podiatry and Health & Care Profession Council (HCPC) registration. It is envisaged these graduates will have extensive clinical experience, alongside a detailed knowledge and working application of policies and procedures whilst offering an innovative solution to maintaining safe workforce levels and safeguarding frontline clinical services.
