Work with authors, agents and teams across the business as a royalties assistant at Bloomsbury.
Bloomsbury is a highly complex and fast-growing business operating globally across trade and non-trade. Bloomsbury Royalties are therefore responsible for keeping pace with and delivering ahead of the evolving demands of the business.
With the acquisition of Rowman & Littlefield, we are now recruiting for a Royalties Assistant to join this busy team and support our new Authors. The role of the Royalties Assistant is to accurately input contractual information into our Royalty System, maintaining this information and also to answer internal and external queries.
This role reports into the Royalties Manager, supporting the Royalties Analysts. The role will also work closely with Bloomsbury’s Royalties Accounting, Contracts, Editorial, and Transactional Finance teams. The role also involves working directly with our Authors and Illustrators, so strong communication skills are key.
Bloomsbury is undertaking a project to implement a new Biblio royalty solution. This is an opportunity to join the Royalties team during an exciting period of transition and change. Whilst the project is well supported from a royalties perspective, this role will play a key part in delivering the success of the project and the necessary process improvements the new system will enable.
Responsibilities
Authors and Agents
* Answer external queries from Authors and Agents in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
Systems (Royalty and Finance)
* Reading author contracts to extract the royalty data, including advances, and keying in this data into the Royalty and Finance Systems in an accurate and timely manner.
* Process sensitive details, such as banking, VAT, address, and tax information, ensuring these are input into our accounting systems accurately and on time.
Other core activities
* Monthly review and action of royalty exception reports.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
* Accurate and thorough data entry/keying in skills.
* Ability to write clear emails.
* Able to speak to agents/authors on the phone in a professional manner.
* Good time management skills.
* Ability to deliver work to deadlines.
* Highly numerate with good Excel skills.
Desirable
* Royalties and sub-rights experience useful.
* Experience of KEA and Biblio systems.
* Knowledge of US Tax Forms.
Additional information
The role is based at our London office, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP, on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office-based / 3 days home-based (or fully office-based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday.
