North Notts Business Improvement District (BID) is the UK’s first ever area-wide, place shaping BID covering the whole district of Bassetlaw in North Nottinghamshire. It is the largest BID in the UK by geography and the second largest by number of levy payers.
North Notts BID commenced trading on 1st September 2017 for an initial five-year period. Following a subsequent successful ballot in June 2022, the BID commenced its second five-year term on 1st September 2022.
All business owners/tenants with premises that have a rateable value of £12k or more are part of the BID and pay a 1% levy based on rateable value. The levy collected brings in approximately £730k per annum enabling us to deliver projects, events and other activities in the district to support our BID members and make the area a better place to work, live and visit.

North Notts BID is currently looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to join the BID team as a Business Liaison Officer.
This post would be perfect for someone with a strong sales and/or customer relationship background who is passionate and committed to making a difference to the local area and the businesses that work in it. The post-holder will meet and interact with a wide and diverse variety of BID members in our towns, industrial and rural areas. Interactions will be face-to-face at their business premises, online or by phone to suit the needs of the business.
The primary purpose of the role is to proactively promote the projects and services that are delivered by North Notts BID, ensuring that our BID members are aware of, and able to access the wide range of BID member benefits. Other aspects of the role include liaising with partners to gain knowledge of relevant funding or business support opportunities available that our BID members could potentially access.
The successful candidate will be confident and an excellent communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships, plan their own workload and balance competing priorities.
This is an interesting and exciting role, where no two days are ever the same. As a Business Liaison Officer you will be the eyes and ears on the ground, and face of the BID.
Main responsibilities:
* To liaise with BID Members in their premises, by email or by phone to promote the many benefits available, ensuring that they get a return on the investment.
* To develop and maintain excellent relationships with BID members, sharing relevant information and details of funding support available that may benefit their business.
* Liaise with the Digital Media & Marketing Lead to ensure that good news stories and offers are shared effectively through all social media channels, website and case studies.
* To liaise with the Business Engagement Lead to map out relevant routes when planning BID member visits.
* Work closely with our hospitality industry to support them to achieve their Best Bar None Accreditation, ensuring that our venues serving alcohol do so safely.
* To support with activities such as showcase events, meetings and business crime reduction initiatives as and when appropriate.
* To ensure that any defective paving or street furniture, incidents of flyposting, fly tipping and graffiti are reported into the BID team to action with relevant partners.
* To report any signs of low-level business crime, anti-social behaviour and beggars in the area to the Council, Police or other relevant authorities where necessary.
* To log interactions, actions and plan future visits on Vicinity, the BID's CRM system.
* Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post as may over time become necessary.
Person Specification
* Educated to a minimum of GCSE equivalent or above
* Positive, enthusiastic self-starter
* Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders within the community
* Experience of handling challenging situations
* An understanding of the diversity and culture within the local area
* Able to showcase the benefits of the BID to ensure maximum BID member engagement and access to the services and benefits available
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills
* The ability to display tact, diplomacy with good negotiation skills
* Willingness to do walkabouts throughout the local towns and industrial areas
* Experience of working in a sales/customer relationship environment advantageous
* The post holder must possess a full, clean driving licence and have the use of their own vehicle. Mileage costs will be covered.

The role is 22.5 hours per week. Occasional weekend work will be required to support the BID team with events and activities.
