Job Purpose
We are looking for a member of the team to continue our ongoing policy projects, which range from investigating the connection between structural racism and the climate crisis to promoting teaching race migration and empire in schools.
This role will require someone prepared to lead a high-performing team while keeping informed with ongoing political developments surrounding race and racism. This is a challenging role and requires an individual who is well organized, comfortable in different high-stakes settings, and able to combine an understanding of policy with an understanding of the changing debates on race and social justice.
Responsibilities and Main Duties:
1. Policy Engagement: You will lead and coordinate the Runnymede Trust's parliamentary engagement.
2. Policy Development: The role will involve writing policy briefings, reports, and policy research on a range of issues relating to racial equality.
3. Strategy Development: Working alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, and Head of Research, you will work to build our political strategy and develop projects and partnerships.
4. Coalition Building: You will work with high-profile stakeholders to advance the Runnymede Trust’s key objectives, as well as build relationships with policymakers and wider civil society groups.
5. Representing Runnymede: You will act as a representative for the Runnymede Trust at events and meetings, and act as a media spokesperson as required.
6. Managing a Team: You will be responsible for managing the policy function at the Runnymede Trust, including line managing employees working across education and policy and creating a culture of inclusion in this work.
