Job summary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Patient Catering Supervisor to join our hardworking housekeeping team.
The post holder will be a motivated and enthusiastic person with the necessary skills to supervise a team of housekeepers on a daily basis.
They will have good customer care experience and be able to handle both positive and negative feedback in a constructive manner.
They will be able to work flexibly to respond to the needs of the department which operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
They will be an experienced caterer with an in-depth knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and dietary requirements along with COSHH and infection prevention controls.
Together with the Patient Catering Manager they will ensure that the ward kitchens are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards and that patient food and drink services are provided both effectively and efficiently.
They will assist the Patient Catering Manager with other duties including rostering, appraisals and liaise with other departments to ensure a professional service is routinely offered.
Main duties of the job
Catering -- An experienced supervisor with level 3 food hygiene and allergen training certificates. A working knowledge of HACCP and COSHH. To ensure the smooth provision service for up to 300 patients per day.
Communication/customer service -- The ability to communicate on all levels with patients, guests, clinical staff and work colleagues. High standards of customer service.
Audits and monitoring -- To monitor all food hygiene, health and safety policies and provide support for the housekeeping team. To ensure all food safety records are kept up to date.
People management -- Effectively line manage a team of housekeepers providing daily assistance, help with training, rostering, appraisals, career development etc.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Level 3 Food safety management
2. HACPP Knowledge
3. Knowledge of full range of work procedures, practices and equipment for a catering service, including - Advanced food hygiene qualification or equivalent plus knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma equivalent level on special diets
Desirable
4. Knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Safety Standards, HACPP, Allergens, COSHH and Infection Prevention strategies relating to standards of hospital cleanliness such as Personal Protective Equipment and Colour Coding.
Experience

5. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to handle complex and sensitive situations
6. Good ICT skills -- MS office packages
7. Ability to interpret and analyse data
8. Ability to input and interpret data on staff management systems, Healthroster and ESR
9. Research and conduct audits as required for service improvements.
10. Experience of managing staff and training staff
11. Ability to concentrate in order to plan and compile work allocations for large group of staff members.
12. Working in kitchens under high temperatures and humidity regularly for short period of times.
13. Moving and transferring trolleys and catering equipment.
